About Mauricio

Growing up in the Colombian Andes, Mauricio always thought he was going to be an anthropologist. Moving to Florida to go to university opened his eyes to the immense world that the natural and physical sciences had to offer, and how engineering could provide pragmatic solutions to many environmental problems. He also grew a great interest in ecology, in particular after learning about the role that wetlands can have in regulating water and contaminants. At the end, Mauricio became an environmental/water resources engineer with a minor in anthropology, always attempting to stay at the boundary between those fields and ecology.
